New Yorkers are contracting HIV at a rate 3 times the national average. In 2006 72 out of every 100,000 New Yorkers contracted HIV compared to 23 per 100,000 across the nation. The higher rate is said to be attributed to New York's higher population of at risk groups gay men and African Americans. This disease isn't a joke !!! Be smart, be safe and be aware.
