DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

I'm very impressed with the fluidity of the DNC this year. The speeches have been exceptional thus far (i.e. Kennedy, Michelle Obama, and Hillary) and the party seems to be cohesive and forceful. Unlike other election years, the entire party has embraced a common goal - to oust the Republicans out of office at any cost. I thought it was particularly thoughtful when Hillary said, "You didn't just do this for me...you did it for the mother's...workers, etc". My only hope now is that Hillary supporters do not abstain from voting. Voters must realize that the Presidential election (or any other election) is about BEST choice, not necessarily who you hoped would have been the candidate. The woman they interviewed on CNN last night after Hillary's speech (a black Democrat and staunch Hillary supporter) explored abstaining and said, "I will NOT vote for McCain, but I'm not sure if I will vote for Obama. He hasn't convinced me yet. Hillary should be our President." In my opinion, this reasoning is poor and I was frustrated to watch her. Even if she doesn't fully endorse Obama, she also knows that he is better than the alternative. And since one of them (Obama or McCain) will be President (absent some weird circumstance), you HAVE to vote for the better alternative...O B A M A!!!

What's even more frustrating than Hillary supporters not voting for Obama are Hillary supporters that are voting for McCain...especially those in swing states like Ohio. I don't get how that's a rational decision at all. Hillary and Obama are more alike than a lot would like to admit whereas McCain's policies, beliefs, and ideals are a practical 180.
