WEEKEND IN THE HAMPTONS!

This past weekend I spent some time in the Hamptons and attended some very memorable events! The first was the Reginald F. Lewis Foundation Luncheon at his estate on Saturday afternoon. Reginald F. Lewis was a black entrepreneur and lawyer who through shrewd business built a billion-dollar business empire. He died at the age of 50 in 1993, however his name lives on through his foundation which is run by his wife and two daughters. Each year they give out an award to a notable individual, and this year my good friend L. Londell McMillan received the award at the luncheon. I attended the event as his guest. He mentioned me in his acceptance speech as a young star who needs to keep pushing - I was very inspired. The Alvin Ailey Dance theatre gave a riveting performance and Deborah Cox tore the house down with some of her old hits. Her voice is still amazing - she gave me chills.
After the luncheon, we threw a congratulatory party for Londell at one of his friend's houses in the Hamptons. The event was sponsored by JONES Magazine - a vogue magazine for women of color. The night ended at B. Smiths - a notable black owned restaurant in the Hamptons. All in all it was a great day!
Notable attendees include Gayle King, Star Jones, and Deborah Cox - check the pics!

Yea I didn't say it was the first luncheon. I said that the luncheon was the first event I went to for the day.
