MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

If you're involved in any type of business that requires promotion, marketing, or PR - please listen closely. I live by a motto - "MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WHO YOU ARE." By "THEY" I mean the people around you (friends, associates, etc.). This is more of a mantra related to networking than it is related to actual marketing. I've learned through a number of situations how important it is for people around you to know what it is you do. Otherwise, how can they help you? How many times have you been in a situation where someone says, "oh, my Uncle is the President of So and So Company," etc? Through the hundreds of people you know, it is very likely that at least one of them is connected to someone who could be of assistance to you in your career. Make sure the people around you know what it is you do and you'll be surprised how helpful they can become. Just don't be obnoxious about it! (painfully admit I'm working on that!!!)
